Always eager to play and goof around, Melba is of the opinion that growing up is for goobers. Life is a party and xe intends to dance until the sun comes up! Xe takes life as it comes. Xe also takes a lot of objects out of other not-cats' houses.
Xe loves to go exploring in cave systems. Xe has a knack for finding xyr way around under ground, even in pitch blackness. Many of the interesting gemstones and fossils around Little Respite were uncovered by xem.
Melba was named by one of the human families xe used to visit back on Earth. Xe was named after a yogurt brand. Though given the option, xe has never claimed another name, because, quote, "what could be better than yogurt?!"

When Nestor brought xem to Not-Earth, xe simply carried on as normal, though vibrating at about twice the intensity. A whole new world to explore! So many new friends to make! It was all so exciting, and xe adapted to xyr new life without any trouble.

- Rogue: A fellow former street-cat and Melba's partner. They are utterly bewitched by xyr joire de vivre. It inspires them to find new joy on Not-Earth and leave their old worries behind.
- Ashrain: One of Melba and Rogue's children, who also considers xem a close friend. Ashrain is deeply thankful to xem for nurturing aer interests since ae was little, and treats both xem and Rogue with the utmost respect and admiration. Melba and Rogue are incredibly proud of the passionate, strong, independent not-cat ae has grown up to be. Ashrain's somewhat bullheaded tendencies really aren't helped by the fact that aer parents constantly encourage aer to believe in aerself and follow aer bliss ... although Rogue does sometimes gently advise Ashrain to be a little more mindful of the feelings of the not-cats around aer.
- Amberbug: Another of Melba and Rogue's children. Though she has a tendency to yell at them whenever she's upset, they know she only lashes out because she's sad, so they don't take it personally. The two of them make Amberbug feel safe and loved like no one else does, so she often comes home to find comfort with her parents, just as she would when she was a kitten. Melba sometimes worries for Amberbug's future, but Rogue is certain she will find her path in life eventually - all she needs is love and support during this little rough patch on the way.
- Chobani: The last of Melba and Rogue's children. Many comment on how Chobani is shockingly similar to their parents in different ways - they have all of Rogue's patience and kindness, and all of Melba's carefree zest for life. This might be the reason they get along with both of them so well. Since they were a kitten, Rogue has always worried a little bit for their safety because of how gentle and trusting they are, but Melba is confident that Chobani is much tougher than they look - they can handle themself, and they will be just fine.
- Jeans+: Melba's best friend. As fellow certified sillybillies with an appreciation for a good quest and an impactful name, the two share an understanding. Whenever Jeans+ drops by the inn, Melba will be sure to be there to tackle-hug them, and the two of them will spend all night talking about all the things they've seen since the last time they were together in-the-flesh.
- Pumpkin: Another best friend. Because they are both laidback and appreciate the simple things in life, they match each other's speed perfectly and have lots to talk about. Melba thinks Pumpkin is very wise, and Pumpkin finds Melba's stories of all the adventures xe goes on in the mines incredibly fascinating. Melba is one among many not-cats who have a little crush on Pumpkin, but xe's not interested in a relationship with aer - xe'd rather be best friends forever!
