A happy-go-lucky not-cat with a big heart. Marble is patient, friendly, and easy to get along with. He can also be clever when he wants to be, though for the most part, he's happy to let others take the lead. Because he has a good attitude and always treats others with respect, he is well-liked throughout all of Little Respite.
He is a skilled adventurer, who knows all about how to survive out in the wilds of Nestor's Wood, and he spends much of his time out exploring the forest. His whole life he has longed to be as amazing of an adventurer as his aunt, Hearthflame, and though he isn't quite at her level, she inspires him to continue to train hard and learn more.

Background:
Marble grew up in Little Respite, alongside his littermate, Specter. Unfortunately, during the first few weeks of their life, the two of them had trouble getting along. Even as tiny little beans, they would often start biting each other out of nowhere, seemingly for no reason at all. Eventually, they became stressed out just sitting together in the same basket. One time, Specter bit Marble so hard it left a scar on his little tail, which remains to this day.
Their parents were at a loss for what to do until a newcomer in town, Lily - who had had similar troubles with a previous litter of theirs - stepped in to have a closer look at the kittens. Lily immediately recognized the problem: Specter was agitated over something, which caused it to lash out at Marble, because he was always the closest thing moving nearby! This led Marble to being wary of Specter and more likely to bite it in turn, and so they were both constantly on edge. Upon closer examination, it became clear that Specter was simply mildly allergic to the fabric its carrying basket was made of. Stream quickly fashioned a new basket made of different material, and Lily helped the three now-very-relieved parents with slowly and carefully reacclimating the two beans to one another. With a bit of time and patience, the biting and scratching stopped entirely, and the children became the best of friends.
Throughout his childhood, Marble was absolutely fascinated with his aunt Hearthflame, who told him many tales from her countless adventures. From a young age, Marble dreamed of coming with her and seeing all of her amazing discoveries for himself. When he was old enough, Hearthflame took him on as an apprentice, and she taught him the ropes of how to forge a path through the wilderness, how to deal with aggressive wildlife, and - most importantly - how to make it back home safe again. Though Marble showed great promise, no one was quite sure if he would have the raw natural skill to match his hero, but his family all figured it was worth a try!
Once Hearthflame had taught him everything she knew, Marble went on to live with his grandparent, Sheeps, in the Twinkling Clearing for a while, so he could attend the famous local adventuring bootcamp and further improve his skills. Though Marble had lots of fun living with Sheeps and greatly enjoyed getting to know so many new wonderful not-cats in town, he did end up having perhaps a bit too much fun, and he ended up neglecting his training a little bit. He never regretted a thing about his stay in the Twinkling Clearing, however, and when he was officially an adult, he returned to Little Respite with a wealth of wonderful memories in his heart.

Though Marble had had a wonderful time in the Twinkling Clearing, he was excited to be reunited with his friends, and he found himself feeling closer with the others than ever before! - Specter: Marble's littermate, as well as his best friend in the world. Even though they seem very different on the surface, they are actually surprisingly similar. Even in adulthood, they spend much of their time playing together just the two of them. It seems Marble is the only not-cat who always knows exactly how Specter is feeling.
- Chobani: A childhood friend. Since Specter used to be best friends with their littermate, Amberbug, Marble often saw Chobani around, and since they were both silly kittens who liked making friends, they started hanging out with each other. Whenever Chobani decides it's time to party, Marble is one of the first not-cats to show up. Because he's great fun and really nice, them and their best friend, Frostmorn, often invite him along for hangouts.
- Princess: Another childhood friend, and Specter's rival. Marble used to defend Princess from Specter's bullying when they were little, though now that Princess is a lot more confident and can defend herself, he mostly just brings the pawcorn and lets whatever happens happen.
- Orca: Another childhood friend, who is a little older than Marble. Marble used to be very fixated on Orca in a way that seemed to indicate a little crush. However, they haven't seen each other in a long time, and Orca has mostly vanished to the back of Marble's memories.
- Tea, Stream, Spark and Lily: Marble's parents. He seems to have learned a little bit from all of them, and all of their kindness and guidance has accumulated into a clever and noble-hearted not-cat, who knows both when to be serious and when to have fun. Marble is very proud of who his parents are, and will always back them up when they need it.
- Hearthflame: Marble's aunt on Spark's side. She has helped raise him and Specter since they were little, and she loves them like they were her own babies. Since Marble was an adolescent, she has mentored him in adventuring, and she has high hopes for him one day becoming a great adventurer, just like herself.
- Wildfire and Cannellini: Marble's piblings on Tea's side. They both think Marble is a ton of fun. Cannellini especially puts a lot of effort into listening to Marble talk about his interest in adventuring, always encouraging him to follow his dreams. Cannellini makes Marble feel like he can really do it!
- Sheeps and Granite: Marble's grandparents on Tea's side. As with the piblings, they both adore Marble, delighted at his good sense of humor. Sheeps is especially fond of Marble and will often set up jokes so he can get to say something funny. Sheeps tries really hard not to pick favorites between Marble and Specter, but since Marble is kind and funny and always happy to bond with them, and Specter is constantly terrorizing them with dead animals and ancient curses and morbid medical facts it learned from Spark, this is almost a lost cause.
- Ava, Pillbug, Archer, Lavender, Hermenze, Hare, and Stream's siblings: Marble's family on Stream's side. Though he isn't as close with them as he is with Tea's family, he still comes with Stream to visit everyone in the Twinkling Clearing from time to time. He especially thinks Ava is extremely cool, which earns him a lot of points in Ava's book.
- Lily's family: Though Lily keeps in contact with their children, they prefer keep their old family separate from their new one. As such, Marble has never met Lily's older children. The rest of Lily's family rarely cross Marble's mind at all.
