Named after the fictional school from Doctor Who, Coal Hill.
Coal Hill School is significant in Doctor Who because:
- It's where Susan, the Doctor's grandchild, went to school.
- It's where the first two human companions, Ian and Barbara, worked as science and history teachers respectively.
- these last two happened at the same time and it was through Susan that they ended up meeting the Doctor in the first ever episode An Unearthly Child (1963)
- the episode Remembrance of the Daleks (1988), an episode which aired in the show's 25th anniversary year, is set partially within the school, as a callback to that first episode
- the school was brought back from 2013-15 when the 11th/12th Doctor's companion Clara taught English there
- in 2016 a spin off show, Class, was set at Coal Hill. It only had one series but still.
