Background:
Eyes grew up in Gardenhome City, where he had many friends in various esoteric artist circles. He met his best friend, Viper, at an underground music festival, and they've stuck together ever since.
One day, bored with his usual routines, Eyes decided that it was time to leave the big city in search of his destiny - he would move to a small town out in the woods, reconnect with nature, discover the true shape of his own soul, and finally (he was very certain of this) meet his one true love!
Within just a few days, he and Viper had moved out to Little Respite, and sure enough, Eyes immediately fell head-over-heels ... for the no-nonsense, tough-as-nails, devastatingly cynical head scribe, Dylan.
Though Eyes wasted no time announcing to Viper that he had without a doubt found "the one!", he unfortunately was much too terrified of Dylan to so much as dare step within her line of sight, and it took her several more weeks to even realize he existed.
In time, Eyes finally worked up the courage to at least come borrow a book from the library once in a while so he could try talking to Dylan. Although he remained terribly intimidated by her big personality, Dylan found she quite liked Eyes, and when he mentioned one time that he was looking for a place to host the new artist club he was founding with Dreamer, Dylan encouraged the two of them to have club meetings on the upper floor of the library. Since she struggled to get up there, it rarely saw use anyway, and was mostly empty. This marked the frail beginnings of a true friendship between the two of them, who would go on to see each other at least a few times a week whenever the artist club came through.
During the very first Leaf Day celebrated in Little Respite, Eyes finally worked up the courage to confess his true Feelings to Dylan - and to his tearful delight, she happily agreed to start a relationship with him. The two turned out to be a surprisingly good match, and have been going strong since then.

- Viper: Eyes' closest friend and platonic life partner. Eyes sees the absolute best in them and would trust them with his life. Conversely, he's entirely ignorant to Viper's less-than-pleasant side, and never holds them accountable for any trouble they cause. Viper likes that about him.
- Dylan: Eyes' partner. He constantly showers her in gifts and affection, which Dylan takes as a matter of course - she deserves it, after all. They go on little picnic dates and romantic boat rides every other day, and never seem to tire of acting like newlyweds no matter how much time passes. Although Dylan is a cynic and a pragmatist, and she ultimately finds Eyes' idealism hopelessly naive, she accepts their differences without argument, and has simply decided she will protect Eyes from all of the world's evils herself so he doesn't have to go around worrying his pretty head about it.
- Dreamer: Another best friend. The two of them founded Little Respite's artist club, and they bonded over their shared love of weird art. They have a lot of fun together and love to collaborate on projects.
- Sandgrain: Another best friend. Eyes was one of the first not-cats in Little Respite to make a concentrated effort to befriend Sandgrain when she first moved here, though it took her quite a while to truly come to accept his friendship. The two have lots of hobbies in common and often come over to each other's houses to drink tea and gossip. Eyes always seems to know what's going down around town, and Sandgrain, still being a bit withdrawn and out of the loop most of the time, needs to catch up on everybody's business!
