In Greek mythology, Nyx is the goddess of Night and the daughter of Chaos. She welcomes you to take a look at her creation.

The long-term goal of Project NYX is to breed void not-cats and sell them at a huge discount to those who want them. It is notoriously difficult to obtain a void on PCE if you didn't think to start out with one—and Project NYX seeks to rectify that in the name of making this game more fun than frustrating.

This is for those who wish to memorialize a pet of theirs; those who want the cat they can't have in real life; those who want to make a fancat of their OC; or those who just want to own a cute pixel sprite of a black cat!

This project would not have kicked off so quickly without the help of the community thus far. Thank you, everyone, for your willingness to help out, and may the goddess Nyx bring darkness upon you all.

General Information

This is meant to be a large production, so at least four breeding pairs of void-makers (that can make both longhair and shorthair) is the goal. This will allow for a higher chance of voids to be produced in a shorter amount of time. Note: we've reached 6 total pairs!

Unfortunately it's not possible to have a 100% chance of void offspring, so we can expect a fair amount of near-misses. Patience is key, especially with the 3 month breeding cooldown period between litters.

NYX voids will cost 5k notes each. They will not be free considering the time, dedication, and resources it'll take to get this project off the ground and keep it going.

Our happy little accidents (any not-voids as a result of breeding) will go up for sale as well.

If any void-makers have been loaned out for Phase 1, they will be returned to their owner.

All successful cats in Phase 1 will move onto Phase 2 once a suitable partner is found. Longhair and shorthair varieties will be prioritized equally.

Eventually, some cats will be cross-bred outside of their usual partners to add variety to the gene pool.

The regular, long-standing pairs will breed every three months.

Voids will be sold in the order that people signed up for.

It is my hope that I can affiliate with other projects and/or users who share a similar goal, be it for voids, or albinos, or other harder-to-obtain cats. Smaller projects and larger projects welcome!

Notes:
It will sadden me if users adopt a Project NYX void just to flip it at a higher price point. The goal of this project is generosity, to bring voids to those who want them, and hopefully adjust the market to make them more attainable overall. Voids are lovely little things IRL, and I just want to share them with the world of PCE.

With that being said, I cannot determine what users will do with a cat once it belongs to them, and that's okay!

Current Pairs

Phase 1: Genesis: Breeding Void-Makers

This phase is dedicated to creating void-makers that I can keep and continuously breed in my village. At this point, I will happily accept any cat loans to pair with my unpaired cats!
Cats who are breeding for the first time will start off in this phase if there's less than a 50/50 chance of producing black/black watercolor beans. They will only move onto Phase 2 if they're deemed a final pairing, with the hope that they'll produce more useful offspring.

The Cats

Temporary Pairings

midnight & ida
These two can make either LH or SH voids & black watercolors, and have the potential for white spotting! Ida belongs to @You, and this pair will breed in You's village. One bean of their choice will stay with them, and the rest of the litter will either go toward the project or be given away in a free raffle.

Check back in about 5-ish weeks!

aurora & vine
They can make SH voids & voids with either white lockets or boots. Otherwise can produce watercolors. Aurora will be used for a future pairing with Jinx, but I may start breeding Aurora with Vine on occasion to have potential for some white markings!

Super happy with these two, they beat the odds! The resulting offspring should be able to make white spotting. They will be ready to travel on August 17.

Cow Cat Time!

Pretty likely to give us some cute solid black and white options! Fun fact, Junimo is part of my original squad.

Their first litter:

Whoa, this is NYX's first 4-bean litter! Only one of them ended up being a cow cat, but hopefully I can pair them up with another cat to make more black & white solids.
They will be ready to travel on August 27.

Ginerva belongs to @Bxy26. Hopefully they're able to make cow cats! Bxy will take home 1 LH baby if there are any. This pairing is also prone to change if I find a better match to replace dahlia.

Phase 2: Chaos: Breeding the voids

Cat pairings in this phase have a high likelihood of producing voids, and all cats are actively dedicated to the project. They will be bred continuously in my village every 3 months.
Looking toward the future, I will adjust the breeding schedule so that at least one litter of cats are available for adoption every month.

Project: NYX now has 6 void pairings! There are three longhair and three shorthair pairings.

I've planned out a new breeding schedule, where two litters (one SH and one LH) will be available every month. That's anywhere from 2-8 cats that get to go home per month!

We have begun expanding to other harder-to-obtain solid black cats, such as black minks and black colorpoints! We will possibly go on to introduce inverse white types as well due to popular demand.

Note: Aurora will have two partners, Jinx and Vine, as both are really good partners with high chances to make voids. Vine's pairing can make black & white cats, too!

I've worked hard to get to this point where I have multiple high-success pairings being bred at once, and I couldn't have done it without all of you. Thank you all so much for your love and contributions 🖤 hug

Our second SH void raffle officially started over at The SPACE Station!

With the introduction of Mercats, we found that at least 2 Nyx pairs are capable of making LL (black) accent colors.

The project began expanding to black minks & black colorpoints.

My wife Roses is getting one to celebrate her kitty Salem, and I'm keeping the other one to celebrate my kitty Angel (and breed her for the project, because WOW she'd be a great pair for shrike). The brown watercolor will also contribute to the project.
Angel and Shrike are final forever pairs! The brown watercolor was swapped with another village to expand our gene pools.

Neither of them are good for void making purposes, but I am a complete sucker for LH solids regardless! Can be used in Project SPACE, if useful. The LH solid will be going back to nsolar along with Terran! :)
Update: All cats are staying with me! They can end up creating silvers in a couple gens.
