Potatogakure • Hidden Potato Village
More than 80 years ago, during the Sengoku period, two famous clans known as the Tree Clan (Moku-Ichizoku) and the Potato Clan (Jagaimo-Ichizoku) fought in an arduous conflict. However, they became exhausted from the longevity of the fight. After a fierce battle between Sadge Potato of the Potato Clan and Hashirama Oak of the Tree Clan, who were once friends, both leaders appealed for a truce to make a dream come true together. That dream is "To create a village where no children will be sent to fierce battles.''
Thus, the first ninja alliance and village in history was born, named "Hidden Potato Village" by Sadge Potato. In addition, the name of the village chief, "Potatokage", was chosen by Oak to represent, "The shadow that protects the Potato Village''. Giant face sculptures of successive Potatokages are carved into the steep cliffs at the back of the village, increasing in numbers each time they are replaced.

80年以上昔の戦国時代、木一族とじゃが芋一族は互いに戦闘一族として名を馳せていたが、長い争いの長さを疲弊していく。激闘後、木一族のオーク長柱間はかつて友となったじゃが芋一族の悲しいポテトと激闘後、二人は双方ともに休戦にして、夢を共に実現させようと訴えかけた。その夢は『子供を激しい戦地へ送ったりしないで済む集落を作る』ということです。
そして史上初の忍族連合体であり里が誕生し、悲しいポテトによって『ポテト隠れの里』と名付けられた。また里の長、『ポテト影』の名は『火の国を守る影』という意味からオークが名付けた。里の奥に切り立った崖には歴代のポテト影の顔を模した巨大な彫刻が刻まれており、代替わりする度に増えていく。
